Prince Daddy and The Hyena Asbury Park Concert reviews
SAM SMITH is INCREDIBLE LIVE!!!
During his set, Prince Daddy and The Hyena was pitch perfect. The door at 11AM was guarded very nicely by security, allowing us to use the bathroom while we camped out. The security brought in at the general admission door entrance was slightly less than they had before. I was first in line, but not first in the building due to my security guard's inability to open the door correctly. He insisted on inspecting the flowers I bought, which were in clear plastic. Speaking of flowers, when I reached the front of the stage, another employee in a windbreaker came up with another woman dressed in black and said this guy has flowers to her. The lady in black told me to give them to her. I complied because I didn't want to get kicked out. However, when I asked her what she planned to do with them, she just said she would bring them to the back and walked away. She never returned to inform me if they were delivered to Sam. I asked the first lady after the show what happened to the flowers, and she said she didn't know, which was incredibly disappointing. It may be my fault for not speaking up more, but I would have much rather waited until the end of the show to throw them on stage than have some random person take them away and potentially throw them in the trash. This is especially frustrating given that I asked Sam after the show if he received them, and he said no. They could have been delivered, and Sam might not have known at that time, but it was a sad situation. Fans line up for hours and spend days on projects on the off chance they can give them to the artist. I personally feel like that level of commitment should warrant a little more empathy from the employees. They should recognize this. I suppose that's not their job, and they were all cordial about everything. George Ezra has a cool voice, but it was very folky and country in a vibe that I wasn't expecting. For his first headlining arena performance, Prince Daddy and The Hyena exuded so much confidence, making it feel intimate. The cool lights and set didn't distract from the killer vocals. There were big full band moments, an acoustic piano-only part, and one a cappella moment that melted my face. Prince Daddy and The Hyena moved about the stage with ease, being very personable, humble, and exuding positive energy. The tween screaming was a bit much at times, but not unbearable. The band sounded amazing, as usual, so balanced and not distracting. It truly was the best show I've been to.
